Last weekend we have raised the bar for freestyle kayaking events. With a spectacular light show and booming beats the TEVA FREESTYLE PIT was the battle ground for the Open Dutch Freestyle Championship of Kayaking 2008. Our own Casper van Kalmthout beat the European champion Matthieu Demoulin in a very exciting finale. Teamrider Seppi Strohmeier from Germany took third place. This event will be the start of a new take/view on the freestyle kayaking sport. The newly introduced showelement will keep spectators, which don’t have any knowledge of kayaking, excited and entertained during the whole event, which is always one of the biggest problems. It was a big succes, everybody was stoked and wants more!

“last weekend i went to the swiss open championships in kayak cross
called the “swiss boatercrossmasters” on the white luetschine river
close to interlaken.
the event was partly sponsored by TEVA and we also
supplied some extra P2´s for river safety crew and travel there to
help out by announcing most of the time during the event.
the weather was pretty hot, therefore the glacier feeded luetschine
river started to rise faster and higher than expected during the
sheduled competion time.
especially saturday saw some solid carnage on the river, but everyone
swimming was brought to shore very fast and safe by the river rescue
team from outdoor interlaken, most of them wearing P2´s.
32 paddlers and about 200 spectators came to the beautiful settings in
the heart of the siwss alps.
the kayak cross was won by mike dawson (nzl), second place went to
marc gacond (sui) and third place to european team TEVA paddler honza
lasko from czech republic.
the women division was won by anne huebner (ger), who participated at
the recent TEVA Tour.
besides the main kayak cross event there was a freewheel competition
over the 15 foot vertical drop on the race course. european team TEVA
paddler ron fischer from switzerland made no doubt that he had the
best tricks while droping over the falls and took home a solid victory.
the team race was won by team czech 1 leaving the 2 swiss teams second
and third place.

it was great event truly made by kayakers for kayakers and another
milestone to keep the TEVA flag up in our core community here in europe.
